The work at the Coronation Park Water Play Area will mean it is closed today and tomorrow (Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 August).
The Fiscal Stimulus-funded water play area has been plagued with technical issues – particularly with its water cleaning system – since its opening. The resulting risk to children’s health and safety has led to multiple closures which have frustrated parents and carers of young children.
Earlier this month, the play area was closed and engineers sent to the island in the hope of fixing the fault once and for all.
At the time, the Government said: “The team at Infrastructure would like to stress that it is normal procedure for any construction project to make alterations during the ‘snagging’ period, particularly while warranties are in place with the suppliers.”
Just weeks later, problems have resurfaced.
“Following ongoing issues with the water play area at Coronation Park, officers have called back to Jersey the engineers from the company which installed the tanks and pumps,” Assistant Infrastructure Minister Deputy Steve Ahier said yesterday.
“This is under the terms of the warranty and the engineers will spend Wednesday and Thursday on-Island, working at the water play area to fix the faults.
“This means, unfortunately, the area will be closed on those two days.”
