Students, teachers, family members and friends took part in a celebratory tea party at d’Auvergne School during the build-up to Liberation Day.

The event was organised by the school’s parent-teacher organisation and featured dancing, singing, music and poetry.
Attendees – many of whom were sporting outfits harking back to the Occupation – indulged in a sit-down supper with sandwiches and cake.
Military vehicles were on display, courtesy of Jersey War Tunnels, along with wartime photographs from the Jersey Archive.
Headteacher Sam Cooper said: “It’s very important that we all recognise and appreciate the freedoms we enjoy today, thanks to the efforts and sacrifices of our predecessors – celebrating Liberation Day means as much today as it ever has.”
