The annual Soup Kitchen in aid of the Shelter Trust had to go online in 2020 due to covid restrictions, but is back on Tuesday 7 December between 10:30 and 14:30 serving soups of different flavours donated by hotels, restaurants and a variety of other supporters.

With the pandemic continuing, this year is slightly scaled back, with 20 rather than 40 soups on offer, but it’s still hoped that more than 3,000 mugs will be served – each with a piece of French bread – as usual.

The last public soup kitchen in 2019 raised more than £14,000.

Lady Dalton has accepted an invitation to serve soup at the LGT Vestra-sponsored event, and Crown Officers and States Members have also been invited to join the day, which will be accompanied by festive carolling from local school choirs.

Islanders are asked for a minimum donation of £3 for their soup. They should order by number and have second and third choices ready on the day.
