A special afternoon tea at Government House brought together Jersey Mencap members and supporters to celebrate the charity’s 65th anniversary.

Around 100 guests attended the event, which was catered by Beresford Street Kitchen.

DJ Mel provided the entertainment while volunteers from Co-op helped the event run smoothly by directing traffic, managing parking and assisting guests to the marquee.

For over six decades, Jersey Mencap has supported people with learning disabilities across the Island by advocating for improved services, choice and opportunity.

Jersey Mencap chair Eleanor Jordan said the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate with the people at the heart of the charity.

“This is such a special occasion for Jersey Mencap and only right that we share this celebration with our members,” she said.

“We have enjoyed many successes, collaborations and achievements over the past 65 years, as well as riding out plenty of storms, but we are proud that the charity is strong and striving to keep up with the growing demand.”

Jersey Mencap now has around 200 members and runs 13 weekly sessions, providing a range of activities and opportunities for adults with learning disabilities across the Island.
