Islanders are being asked to dig through their drawers and dust off their old sports gear as part of a new community drive giving pre-loved kit a second chance to shine.
The ‘Kit Reuse’ initiative, launched by Jersey Sport in partnership with Acorn, aims to make getting active more affordable by collecting donated sportswear and selling it at low prices through the Acorn Reuse Centre.
All items of donated kit – whether trainers, tracksuits, football boots or fitness tops – will be sorted and prepared at Acorn and sold in a dedicated sporty space on-site.
It’s hope that the initiative will help break down some of the financial barriers associated with getting involved in sport, creating more opportunities for people on the island to get active, while also promoting recycling.
“By partnering with Acorn and collaborating with our wider sporting community, we’re helping remove financial obstacles by recycling and redistributing high-quality sports kit at accessible prices. Together, we’re making sport more inclusive for everyone,” said Claudia Andrade, Inclusion and Intervention officer at Jersey Sport.
