Islanders impacted by suicide are being invited to carry the ‘Baton of Hope’ during its visit to Jersey later this year.
The metal baton will visit 20 location across the British Isles in an attempt to highlight mental health services and boost conversation around suicide.
The ‘Baton of Hope’ is passed along by people who have been affected by suicide, including as bereaved family members and people who have attempted to take their own life.
It will arrive in Jersey on 28 September 2025.




The baton’s design features artwork alluding to a journey of improving mental health.
It includes, for example, latticework made up of small figures, which the charity says represent “a myriad of people holding each other aloft” such as friends, families, charities and health professionals.
The event been billed as “the largest mental health campaign the island has ever seen”.
The tour Jersey leg of the baton’s tour is due to coincide with the launch of the Government’s five-year suicide prevention plan.
The baton will visit iconic island locations including Elizabeth Castle and Corbière Lighthouse, as well as places with links to mental wellbeing and suicide prevention.
Islanders can apply to be a baton bearer on the Baton of Hope website.
