Do you have a particularly heartwarming photo of your pet? A local charity is inviting Islanders to submit pictures of their furry friends to highlight the special bond between humans and animals.

The winners of the JSPCA’s inaugural ‘Favourite Animal Moments’ photo competition will have their pictures featured in the Animal Shelter’s official calendar for 2027.

The competition is open to Jersey residents aged five and over, with all of the proceeds going towards supporting animals across the Island.

JSPCA chief executive Pam Aubert said: “We are incredibly excited to launch our inaugural photo competition.

“Jersey is home to so many talented photographers and, of course, amazing animals.

“Whether you’re taking a photo on your phone while walking your dog or capturing a stunning wildlife moment, we’d love to see your favourite animal photographs.

“We hope this competition becomes something Islanders look forward to every year as we celebrate the animals that enrich all of our lives.”

There will be four categories to enter:

  • Little Paws Photographer (five- to eight-year-olds)
  • Young Animal Photographer (nine- to 12-year-olds)
  • Teen Photographer (13- to 17-year-olds)
  • Adult Photographer (18+)

Photos will be judged on how creative and quirky they are, and how they are composed to tell a story. Age-appropriate judging criteria will be in place for younger categories.

All participants will have free entry to the competition thanks to sponsorship from Islands Insurance.
