After starring alongside Idris Elba and Jared Leto in the new Masters of the Universe film, a Jersey-born actor is preparing for a very different test back home…
Mr Wilkinson, who has worked as a stuntman, has now been confirmed as the ambassador for the True Grit Wetwheels Challenge – a family-friendly fundraising event featuring a run within Ronez Quarry, complete with a variety of obstacles designed to test participants’ teamwork, determination and sense of adventure – and will be taking part in next year’s event.
The 2027 event is due to take place on Sunday 25 April with money raised going to Wetwheels, which provides the opportunity for people with disabilities to go on a boat trip – even arranging for participants to drive the motorboat.
“Growing up in Jersey, the sea was my playground”
The former Les Quennevais pupil said: “Growing up in Jersey, the sea was my playground and played a huge part in shaping who I am.
“That love of the water eventually became part of my career too, from driving boats and jet skis to spending six years performing in water-based stunt shows.”
He continued: “I know first-hand the freedom, excitement and confidence that being on the water can give you, which is why what Wetwheels Jersey does really resonates with me. Everyone deserves the chance to experience that, no matter who you are.
“I’m proud to become an ambassador for the True Grit Wetwheels Challenge and can’t wait to get involved next April, helping raise as much money and awareness as possible for an incredible local charity.”
