A Jersey marathon runner has come up with a unique fundraising plan which will see local professionals offer services to the general public in exchange for a donation to a leading children’s charity.

Kevin Alway is set to run the London Marathon 2026 to raise money for the Jersey branch of the NSPCC.

But rather than just asking for donations, Mr Alway plans to hold a ‘skills auction’ to allow islanders to offer their skills and services in exchange for a charitable contribution.

Items could include an hour of expert legal advice, a personal training consultation, a photography session, or a masterclass in digital marketing.

Kevin explained: “We all have something valuable we can give – and in this case, it’s our time and experience.

“This auction isn’t just about raising funds; it’s about bringing our professional community together to support vulnerable children across the island.”

He added: “Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, secure and loving environment.

“By supporting this campaign, islanders are directly contributing to that vision becoming reality here in Jersey.”

The London Marathon had a record number of 56,640 finishers this year, making it the largest marathon ever held.

It also broke the world record for biggest annual one-day fundraising event, having raised over £75 million for various charities.
