The threat of fumes from burning fibreglass prompted police to warn people in the area to keep their windows and doors closed.
The Parish Hall was opened early to be used as an evacuation centre for residents.
Four fire engines, an aerial ladder and an incident control unit were deployed, and police set up cordons at La Haule and The Old Court House pub, although that cordon has now been pushed back to open up the main road.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the fire itself, and checked neighbouring buildings.
A statement from the police said: “Please be advised we are currently dealing with a large fire in St Aubins.
“At this time residents in the surrounding areas are advised to keep all windows and doors closed and remain inside their premises.
“All motorists are requested to avoid the area as St Aubins Village is currently closed to all traffic.”
