Anyone caught attempting to smuggle contraband into the prison “should expect to go straight to prison”, the Lieutenant Bailiff has said as he jailed a serial criminal for 22 months.
Daniel James Vibert admitted three counts relating to throwing banned items over the prison wall.
One package was found to contain two small plastic bottles of 37% alcohol, five vapes, one vape refill and a USB cable, while another contained a set of weighing scales, a bag of herbal cannabis, two pouches of tobacco and a metal socket.
He was linked to the packages through fingerprints found on the tape used to wrap them.
Vibert was also sentenced for one count of threatening or abusive behaviour, one count of being concerned in the production of a controlled drug, one count of possession of a controlled drug, one count of assault and one count of malicious damage relating to a separate incident.

Delivering the court’s sentence, Lieutenant Bailiff Anthony Olsen, presiding, said that there was “no doubt” that a custodial sentence was warranted.
“Anybody who conveys drugs into prison should expect to go straight to prison”, he said.
“You have a dreadful criminal record. We are mindful of the fact that you evidently had a bad start in life, to say the least. You are 35 now, Mr Vibert, it is time for you to grow up and leave that all behind”, said the Lieutenant Bailiff.”You present a serious risk of reoffending. We find ourselves quite unable to impose a non-custodial sentence”, said the Lieutenant Bailiff.
Vibert was jailed for a total of 22 months and ordered to pay £1600 towards the prosecution costs.
Jurats Dulake and Berry were sitting.
