A pedestrian crossing is to be placed on Bagatelle Road near Jersey College for Girls as part of a project to create “safer routes to school”.
The Infrastructure and Environment Department also plans to widen footways and make changes to the school boundary wall.
Works are due to take place over the school summer holidays ahead of the next academic year.
They form part of the Government’s ‘Safer Routes to School’ project, which has also identified other areas in the parish as “priorities”, namely Fountain Lane and Clarence Road.
Jersey College for Girls principal Carl Howarth welcomed the “much-needed improvements” surrounding the school.
“The installation of a pedestrian crossing and the widening of the pavement will make this busy area much safer for all users,” he said.
The impact of the proposed upgrades will be monitored after delivery of the project, the Government said.
Parents and students at the college have been invited by Infrastructure and Environment to a drop-in information session at the school on Monday 3 March.
