Cameron and Alastair Chalmers now hold the fastest and second fastest indoor 400m times on record for Guernsey runners.

The younger of the brothers claimed bronze and a PB in races during last weekend’s UK Athletics Indoor Championships at the Utilita Arena Birmingham.

He had been gunning for a gold medal but his time of 47.14 put him third in the final, behind Alex Haydock-Wilson and Joshua Faulds who finished in 46.70 and 46.85 respectively.

Chalmers had run his personal best time of 46.84 in the earlier semi-final with a gap of just 0.05seconds between him and Haydock-Wilson in that race.

The older Chalmers’ brother’s personal best time over the same distance indoors is 45.65, run in 2017 at the England Athletics U23 Championships.
