The Met department says we’re actually experiencing a much milder autumn than normal and it’s set to continue into the beginning of next month.
The Met’s duty forecaster Mark Le Cornu said: “We’ve got the Atlantic to keep us nice and warm. The forecast is for rain, changeable and on the milder side into the beginning of December but nothing desperately cold.
“This autumn it’s currently two degrees above average. That is pretty considerable.”
More than half of the United States was covered in snow this week, New York state being one of the worst hit. 200 million people faced temperatures below freezing.
The snow is now melting but there are now fears of buildings collapsing and widespread flooding.
