Sir Timothy Le Cocq has requested that the island-wide one minute silence take place on Monday 12 December at 11:00.

He said it will be, “…a moment when all islanders can pause together and reflect on the incidents that have resulted in loss of life.”

Islanders are invited to use the silence as an opportunity to think of those affected by the Pier Road explosion, as well as the loved ones of the fishers lost when their trawler collided with a Condor freight ship on Thursday.

The search for survivors at the site of the Pier Road explosion which has claimed at least three lives has come to a close, and has now moved to a recovery operation.
