Plans to change a second-floor office in Library Place into a mixed martial arts and Pilates studio have been approved.

The proposal, submitted by applicant Nadim Virani, involves converting a small 144 m2 office within 9-13 Library Place and was described Socrates Architects as a “modest re-use of an existing town centre commercial unit for another active indoor commercial unit.”

In approving the change of use, the Planning officer concluded: “The new use would provide sports and leisure services to the public, in a highly accessible and sustainable location, while supporting the town centre’s vitality and local service offer.”

It is proposed that the studio will operate Monday to Friday from 6am to 8.30pm, Saturdays from 7am to 4pm, and Sundays and Bank Holidays from 10am to 12pm.
