It was previously a gentlemen’s club before voting to let “lady members” join in 2020.
In a letter which has been seen by Express, members were yesterday told that “certain matters relating to financial accounts” had been brought to the attention of the club’s committee and had since “become the subject of investigation”.

The letter continued: “The committee wish to be as open and transparent as possible with members on the matters but are also respectful of the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
“Accordingly, and to protect all parties and ensure due process is followed, there can be no more comment from the committee on this matter until [the] investigation is concluded.”
It added: “The president further kindly requests that members do not prejudice the outcome of investigation by speculating or discussing this matter in the club.”
The letter went on to outline some of the Untied Club’s current priorities, which includes concluding the investigation “at the earliest opportunity”.
It stated: “The committee fully understand that the news of an investigation may be concerning, and we apologise for any inconvenience or uncertainty it may cause.
“However, we want to assure you that we are fully committed to addressing these issues transparently and responsibly.”
It explained that the committee would seek to host an “informal briefing for members” next week, and call a general meeting later in the year “once matters are better understood”.
