Three local charity workers are preparing to criss-cross Jersey’s coastline this weekend in an ambitious fundraising challenge that will see them swim in 32 bays in just 12 hours.

Les Amis colleagues Sammy Gomes, Aleksandra Proczek and Tia Read are taking on the feat this Sunday (21 June) to raise money for ‘Project Trinity’ – a new specialist nursing and complex-needs facility currently under construction in Trinity.

The trio, who have worked together for several years, have named themselves team Swimming Against Time (S.A.T) – using the first letters of their names.

Their challenge will begin at 5am at Bonne Nuit and end 12 hours later at St Brelade’s Bay. Along the way, they will visit 32 bays around the Island and complete at least 30 strokes in each one before moving on to the next location.

Based on tide times, they are beginning at bays on the North coast before making their way down towards the South East.

The idea was born after they learned that additional fundraising was needed to support Project Trinity, which is on track to open in September.

More than £1,400 has already been raised, with the team hoping to hit a £2,000 target.

All funds raised will go towards the development of the new facility, which will provide specialist care and support for Islanders with complex needs.
