It’s not every day you get to watch toddlers zorb-roll past a boxing ring while a DJ blasts tunes no one else can hear… but that’s exactly what’s on offer when Jersey Children’s Day returns this weekend.

Now in its fifth year, the celebration of kids, community and chaotic fun will be taking place at Howard Davis Park on Sunday, promising a full day of completely free entertainment for children, young people and families.

First launched in 2020 following the recommendations of the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry, the event aims to put young people centre stage – celebrating their rights and voices while offering a safe, inclusive space to let off steam.

Bouncy castles, zorbs and a silent disco are on offer, as well as nerf battles, boxing tasters and a gaming van for more competitive youngsters.

Throughout the day, there’ll also be walkabout performers and live bands, as well as a performance from the Jersey Showman.

Children and Families Minister Connétable Richard Vibert said: “Children’s Day is a celebration of our young people, their rights, and their place at the heart of our community.

“This year marks five years of progress, reflection, and connection. We invite families from across the Island to come together for a day of fun and celebration.”

He added that the event wouldn’t be possible without the support of local volunteers, organisations and government teams.

The event will be in full swing between 10am and 5pm.
