A minority of primary and secondary schools will fully close, with the majority set to partially close today (Wednesday 15 May) and Thursday (16 May) due to strikes by members of the National Education Union (NEU), who, alongside other major union NASUWT, would like to see salaries rise in line with increases in the cost of living.

The latest round of strikes comes after the NEU called on the Chief Minister to sit at the negotiating table on Monday.

Union representatives also wrote to NASUWT to urge them to join them in striking. Currently, NASUWT members are taking industrial action short of a strike, opting not to provide any additional cover lessons.
