Olympic champions, world champions and crowd favourites are heading back to the Island for a $800,000 showdown, it has been confirmed.

Organisers of this year’s Supertri Pro Series Final confirmed this afternoon that, among the headline acts returning to the Waterfront this September would be crowd favourite Jonny Brownlee, who received a huge reception from Jersey spectators last year and arrives in red-hot form after completing an astonishing 10 sprint triathlons in a single weekend at Blenheim Palace.

Heavyweight showdown

But Brownlee won’t have it all his own way, it seems…

Former Olympic and world champion Alex Yee will be returning to Jersey for the first time since beating Brownlee on the Island in 2021, while reigning Supertri champion Csongor Lehmann, current world champion Matt Hauser and Olympic gold medallist Tim Hellwig are also set to line up.

What to expect?

The women’s race is likely to be just as heated.

Defending Jersey champion Jeanne Lehair will return to defend her title, with Olympic champion Cassandre Beaugrand, who had to withdraw from last year’s event, and Supertri legend Georgia Taylor-Brown both joining the field.

Former European champion Jolien Vermeylen also arrives after victory at Blenheim Palace.

“The stakes have never been higher”

Supertri chief executive Michael D’hulst said Jersey had become the perfect venue for the season finale.

“This is an extraordinary line-up for the Supertri Pro Series Final,” he said.

“We have current world champions, Olympic gold medallists, reigning Supertri champions and athletes who have already created unforgettable moments in Jersey all competing for the biggest one-day prize purse in triathlon.

“The stakes have never been higher… Jersey always brings something special to Supertri; the course, the atmosphere and the energy from the crowd create the perfect setting for a final of this scale.”

DON’T MISS…

The Supertri Pro Series Final takes place on Sunday 6 September as part of Jersey’s growing “weekend of endurance sport”, alongside Swim Run Jersey, the JSAC Half Marathon and RBC Race for the Kids. Further athlete announcements are expected in the run-up to race day.
