The police have since released the boy on bail.

As the gates closed last night on the two day event, police say that overall, it went “very smoothly.”

“Organisers and partner agencies involved worked well together and were able to make sure that everyone enjoyed themselves safely,” they added in an official statement.

Despite an alert issued in advance of the festival following the death of 29-year-old Ashleigh Thomas Green,  a number of people had to be treated onsite by paramedics and St. John Ambulance after taking high-strength MDMA on Saturday.

Another two were treated at the Emergency Department, but were released a short time afterwards.

“We would like thank the team of paramedics, St John Ambulance, Jersey Youth Service, Ambulance Support Unit, attending onsite doctor, States of Jersey Police and staff in the Emergency Department who all worked tirelessly over the weekend to keep people safe that attended the Weekender festival,” a Home Affairs spokesperson said.

The police is urging anyone with any information around people supplying or offering to supply MDMA to contact them on 612612.

Acting Superintendent Alison Fossey is also reminding islanders of the danger of drugs.“Drugs can have a significant impact on your life, you can’t be sure of the ingredients or the effect these substances will have on your body and your wellbeing.

“Aside from the fact they can be fatal, if you end up with a conviction for taking or supplying illegal drugs, this can affect your future travel plans and job prospects amongst other things. Don’t let a bad decision ruin your entire life.”
