The young man had been enjoying the sunset with friends near the Les Landes model aircraft field around 22:00 when two younger males – described as being tall and skinny, and aged between 16 and 18 – appeared to fire pellets in the direction of his car.
The 18-year-old was then reported to have got in his grey Suzuki Swift car to drive over to the teens. As he did so, the teen holding the BB gun pointed it through the driver’s window, shooting him directly in the face.
The pair were then said to have run off in the direction of Batterie Moltke car park.

Police are now strongly urging islanders with any information to come forward. They described the alleged attack as “a very serious incident.”
“The 18-year-old man has sustained a serious injury to his right eye that requires surgery as the pellet is actually lodged in the back of his eye,” PC Ross, the officer requesting the appeal, reported.
The teen alleged to be responsible for the attack was reported to be wearing a red Adidas tracksuit, dark jeans and a white bucket hat. His friend was said to be wearing a white tracksuit top.
Anyone who may be able to identify the pair or provide further information about the incident is asked to call 612612 or make an anonymous report to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
