Yesterday, Jersey’s Fire and Rescue Service had to help a young woman who had got herself stuck in the mud in St. Aubin’s harbour.

Working with the Coastguard, and the Ambulance Service, firefighters say they were able to reach the woman quickly, before safely releasing her from the sticky mud, and getting her back onto firm ground so that she could be treated by paramedics.

They added that she was in no immediate danger, as the tide was out – but it was starting to rise.

The fire service is using the unusual rescue to remind islanders to take more care when wading through mud in one of Jersey’s harbours, particular when the tide has turned.
