It is the 27th annual ‘around-the-island’ walk and today’s participants can expect a challenging time.

The event has been split into three categories:

  • Main Walk: 48 miles – for those who relish the physical challenge
  • Lieutenant Governor’s Challenge: 13 miles – ideal for those with young families, or less of an appetite to conquer all 48.1 miles at once
  • Relay: 48 miles – for teams of 4 to take on the main walk

Over the past few decades more than 20,000 participants have taken part in the walk and raised over £2,077,000 with every penny raised by walkers being distributed to local charities.

This year will be no different with over 1,000 walkers signed up to take part in today’s challenge.
