Visit Jersey is “disappointed” by disruption to some of DFDS’s initial sailings which it says has “impacted visitors, islanders, and local hospitality businesses” – but the tourism organisation is hopeful that the island will soon be able to expect “a smooth and efficient service”.
The organisation’s comments come after the Danish shipping firm faced setbacks immediately after starting its Jersey operations at the end of last month.
This has included technical issues with Tarifa Jet, one of its fast ferries, which led to schedule changes and the cancellation of some sailings.
The vessel is expected to enter service this weekend.

A Visit Jersey spokesperson said: “We are, of course, disappointed by the recent disruption, which has impacted visitors, islanders, and local hospitality businesses.
“Connectivity is essential to our island’s visitor economy, and this is not the start anyone had hoped for, including DFDS.”
They continued: “We understand that DFDS is working to minimise disruption and to support those affected by the changes.
“Moving forward, we hope visitors and islanders can expect a smooth and efficient service.”

A DFDS spokesperson said that Tarifa Jet is expected to enter service on Saturday following berthing trials on Friday.
“Our fast ferry will be serving the St Malo route, which frees the Stena Vinga to serve our northern routes to Portsmouth and Poole,” they continued.
“It’s been invaluable to us that the Cote D’Albatre has been servicing our Portsmouth route for the week while the Tarifa Jet completed maintenance.
“We’d like to thank customers for their patience, and we can’t wait to welcome them on board.”
