More than 20 firefighters battled a major blaze in St Brelade overnight after a two-storey building became “fully engulfed” in flames.
The fire broke out just before 11:00pm, and the Fire Service sent two fire engines from headquarters along with a water carrier due to limited water access at the scene of the fire.
When crews arrived, they were met with a 10-by-15-metre building fully alight.
The crew described access to the property as “challenging”, with firefighters having to navigate through neighbouring properties and wooded areas to establish a water supply and begin tackling the flames.
Extra help was brought in to prevent the fire spreading to the surrounding area.
Firefighters remained at the scene for around four hours to bring the fire under control and make the area safe.
Fire officers said they would return to the area during daylight hours to investigate the cause.
Watch Commander Richard Ryan praised the effort of the on-call firefighters.
“This type of incident demonstrates the importance of our On-Call colleagues,” he said.
“It is no doubt that without their support, we would not have been able to bring this fire to such a successful conclusion within such a short time period.”
