The Island’s first working farm stay is set to open next year – nearly a decade after the idea was first developed.

Laurent and Paris Coenen, founders of Potage Farm and The Sheep Shed, will welcome their first overnight guests to Hedgerow House from June 2027.

The new farm stay will comprise six suites, accommodating up to 22 guests, with bookings due to open on Boxing Day 2026.

The Coenens have already welcomed thousands of people to the farm through the Sheep Shed, which hosts parties and playgroups.

Hedgerow House will add overnight accommodation to the farm’s existing activities, bringing together seasonal flowers, the Sheep Shed and events alongside the workings of the family farm.

The project has been almost ten years in the making and the Coenens hope it will help secure the future of their family farm while giving people the opportunity to experience it.

Mr Coenen said: “Farming has been part of my family for generations, so looking after the land has always meant thinking beyond today.

“Over the years, we’ve gradually diversified the farm through experiences and events, and Hedgerow House is the next chapter in that journey – helping to secure the future of the farm while sharing the place we love with others.”

He added that the family wanted the development to reflect its surroundings rather than create something that could be found elsewhere.

“We never wanted to build something that could exist anywhere,” he said.

“It had to feel true to our family, this farm and Jersey’s farming heritage. That’s what we hope every guest experiences when they come here.”

Mrs Coenen said the idea had grown naturally from the family’s experience of welcoming people onto the farm.

“We’ve dreamed about Hedgerow House for almost ten years,” she explained.

“It felt like the natural next chapter in our journey – building on everything we’ve learned from welcoming people onto the farm, while staying true to who we are as a family.”

Mrs Coenen described the experience they want to offer as “wellness with wellies on”.

“It’s fresh air, muddy boots and time together as a family,” she added. “If a child leaves having collected their first egg, discovered where their food comes from, or simply made memories together as a family, we’ll feel we’ve created something really special.”

Visit Jersey chief executive Tricia Warwick said Hedgerow House is a “fantastic example of Jersey’s accommodation offer evolving in a way that celebrates the island’s unique heritage while resonating with wider travel trends”.

“Hedgerow House is an exciting addition to Jersey’s visitor offering, and we are delighted to see it open in 2027,” she added.

“Visitors increasingly want to feel connected to the places they travel, including the local landscape, food, and people.”

Bookings open on Boxing Day 2026, with the first guests due to arrive in June 2027.
