At the Waterfront this September, Islanders will have the opportunity to witness the next instalment of world triathlon’s most compelling rivalry.
The event in question? The Supertri Pro Series Final: one of the sport’s most prestigious platforms for short-endurance competition.
It will see Team GB superstar and Paris 2024 Olympic champion Alex Yee face off against New Zealander Hayden Wilde; the very man he pipped by just six seconds to take the gold medal two summers ago.
This time around – for good measure – they will be joined at the start line by reigning world champion Matt Hauser; a 28-year-old Australian hungry to consolidate his position at the top of the triathlon tree.
Yee and Wilde have history in Jersey: they both participated in the same competition in 2021, where they were both beaten to the punch by all of our mother’s favourite human: Mr Jonny Brownlee.
This time around though, everything is up for grabs – Yee has a point to prove after stepping away from swim-bike-run for most of 2025, and the perennial always-the-bridesmaid-never-the-bride Wilde will be looking to right the wrongs of Paris.
The winner will take a lion’s share of $800,000 for his effrots: the largest single-day prize fund in triathlon this season.
Islanders will also get to take in an impressively stacked field in the women’s race, with Olympic champion Cassandre Beaugrand and Supertri’s most decorated athlete Georgia Taylor-Brown both on the starting line.
Michael D’hult, CEO and co-founder of Supertri, said that the organisation “cannot think of a better stage for the final than Supertri’s spiritual home of Jersey.”
“To have athletes of the calibre of Alex, Hayden and Matt going head-to-head at the Waterfront is going to make for an incredible spectacle,” he added.
“The stakes have never been higher, and the field reflects that.
“We know how much energy the Jersey crowd brings to Supertri and we can’t wait to see the Marina come alive again in September.”
