The talent in Jersey is as vast as our tidal range. Due to Jersey’s location, global reach, safety and topography, the island attracts people from all over the world. Adult and Community Education at Highlands College corrals this range of global expertise and offers it to adult students who seek to enrich their lives by learning new skills.

Meet the experts 


Aida de la Herran 

Aidade la Herran is a talented silversmith known for incorporating washed-up shards of local pottery and sea glass in her creations. She teaches several sessions of Jewellery Making per week, in the mornings, afternoons and evenings at Philip Mourant Centre in Trinity. To see her work, visit https://www.aidadelaherran.com

Anca Toma 

Anca Toma is passionate about web development and coding, and she loves sharing this passion with new students. As a practicing developer for Revoke, a Jersey-based company, Anca has risen through the ranks, starting as a trainee in 2018. In addition to teaching two sections of Coding and Web Development for Beginners in the evenings at Highlands College, Anca is also a programming mentor for Code Heroes. 


Romano Pezzali 

RomanoPezzali’s expertise spans from his love of his native language of Italian to his obsession with drag! Romano teaches Italian for Beginners and Italian Conversation in the evenings at Highlands College, and he also runs a single-session Dipping Into Drag workshop where each student has a chance to experiment with makeup, fashion, wigs, accessories and attitude to find their drag identity. 


Lisa MacDonald 

Lisa MacDonald has worked as a painter, illustrator and maker for several decades. She delights in creating playful and engaging workshops,specialising in good technique, great use of colour and creative thinking. She offers evening and day courses at Philip Mourant Centre in Trinity with topics ranging from Painting for Beginners to Mixed Media: Scrapbooks.
