The Guernsey Commonwealth Games Association has been allocated twenty athlete places for the Glasgow 2026 Games.
That means that out of the ten sports to be showcased at the Games next summer, Guernsey could have athletes in four representing the island in Athletics, Boxing, Bowls (indoor), and Swimming.
Team selections will take place by March at the latest.

The GCGA says each sport will be supported by a Manager/Official with Tom Druce travelling for the athletics team, Ben Duff for the boxers, and Sara Parfit for the swimmers. A Manager is yet to be appointed for the Bowls team.
All of the GCGA team are volunteers with shooter Peter Jory as Chef de Mission and cyclist Karina Jackson as General Team Manager. The pair were General Team Managers at the last Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022, as well as being joint Team Leaders at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2023 in Trinidad and Tobago.
Angela Stuart will also attend the Games in her capacity as Chair of the Guernsey Commonwealth Games Association. She has attended the last five Commonwealth Games, and has said she intends to retire after twenty-years voluntary service to Guernsey’s commonwealth sports.
Guernsey’s athletes will also be supported by the Medical Team comprising Dr Bob Gallagher, Physiotherapist Jim Marshall, and Sports Therapist Francesca McLuskey.
Together, the GCGA team has thanked Specsavers and Islands Energy Group for the ongoing support over the past fifteen years. “Their commitment to local sportsmen and sportswomen inspires our athletes to strive to achieve the high level of competition that is achieved at a Commonwealth Games,” said a spokesperson for the GCGA.
Ahead of the Games, the King’s Baton Relay will reach Guernsey in June.
The Baton started its journey from Buckingham Palace on Commonwealth Day 11 March 2025. It’s first stop was in Trinidad & Tobago and the Baton journey will pass through Guernsey in late June before arriving in Glasgow for the Opening Ceremony of the Games on 23 July 2026.
