Guernsey Police have advised motorists to give themselves an extra 30 minutes to get in or out of town as roadworks continue on the Grange.
The main artery is currently subject to a series of closures while the road is being resurfaced and ‘informal crossing points’ are installed at key points for pedestrians.
In total the work is due to take all month, with different sections closed at a time.
The work moved to a new location from this morning, with Doyle Road closed as a result.
“This led to a lot of traffic and congestion on the roads this morning,” said Bailiwick Law Enforcement on social media.
“Guernsey Police deployed officers to help manage the flow of traffic, but we’d advise islanders leave an extra 30 minutes for their journey into Town both this afternoon and tomorrow morning.”
The journey to town from the Imperial takes ’23 minutes’ by car according to Google maps while the drive from L’ancresse is estimated to take ’14 minutes’ – meaning motorists at the further point away from town should start their journeys much earlier than normal to arrive at their intended time if navigating the Grange as part of that drive.

Bailiwick Law Enforcement has also reminded motorists to “follow directions from temporary road signs” while confirming some signs have been changed after this morning’s “congestion” on and around the Grange.
“Drivers also must follow directions from temporary road signs,” the message read.
“A temporary no entry sign, for example, is no different to a no entry sign and must be complied with to avoid causing even more traffic. Officers will be issuing fixed penalty notices to people who ignore them.
“Some adjustments have been made to road signs since this morning to ensure they’re clear.”
The road works will move to a new section once the current work is complete.
