Alison Merrien MBE has won the Ladies’ World Bowls Singles Championship for a fifth time.
She was up against tough competition in the final – with Scotland’s Julie Forrest vying for a seventh win in this event.
Merrien added to her wins from 2009, 2015, 2018, and 2019 with a 2-0 (7-6, 6-2) victory over Forrest.
Merrien was top of her group heading into the final, after suffering just one group game tiebreak defeat. Meanwhile, Forrest had finished second in her group – only securing her place in the final during the last day of sectional play.

The Guernsey star competed in Australia alongside her husband Ian in the Mixed Pairs. He also entered the Men’s Singles competition.
Together the Merriens reached the last eight in the Mixed Pairs.
