Guernsey double up on gold medals in the Women’s Lawn Bowls events at the Orkney 2025 Island Games.

Rosemary Ogier, the only competitor in Guernsey’s squad that has competed before, was at the heart of both Guernsey’s gold medals.

Ogier topped the Round Robin table winning four of her five matches at Kirkwall Bowling Club. The last time Lawn Bowls was at the Island Games was 20 years prior, held in the Shetland Islands.

The 2005 Women’s Singles Lawn Bowls gold medal was won by Guernsey’s Alison Merrien, one of the 40 gold medals that contributed to Guernsey’s 2005 Shetland Games triumph. Guernsey still boast a 100%-win record in the Women’s Singles category.

Not only did Ogier win the Singles, but she also teamed up with Julie Williams to win gold in the Women’s Pairs event. The Pairing dominated the greens of Kirkwall, winning four of their five fixtures. Eight points and a difference of 35 hands Guernsey a deserved gold medal.

The pairs impressive difference meant they edged Orkney’s Rendall and McConnachie who also amounted eight points.
