Guernsey footballer Maya Le Tissier has been named in the England Women’s squad for the upcoming Euros in Switzerland.
The Manchester United women’s team captain will be part of the team as the Lionesses seek to defend their European Championships title from 2022.
Posting on Instagram after she learned she had been selected for her “first major tournament with England”, 23-year-old Le Tissier wrote “Dreams come true”.
Le Tissier is only the second person from Guernsey to ever be selected for a senior national football team, after Matt Le Tissier – who is no relation to Maya.
Both Le Tissier’s have made eight appearances for their England teams – with Maya set to overtake Matt as Guernsey’s most capped international football player if she is selected to play at this summer’s Euro’s tournament.
England’s first match in the UEFA Women’s Euros 2025 is against France on Saturday 5 July, kicking off at 20:00 BST.
