Guernsey woman Megan Chapple has broken the island’s female marathon record in Australia’s Gold Coast Marathon.

Chapple ran it in 2:49:14 over the weekend.

The previous record was 2:49:59 set by Louise Perrio in Frankfurt in 2017.

The 2025 ASICS Gold Coast Marathon had more than 39,000 participants from 50 countries, competing across various distances including the ASICS Gold Coast Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km run, 5km run, and Junior Dash

Chapple came 362 overall in the marathon out of 12703 finishers.

She was the 21st woman across the line out of 4087.

She was also the fourth finisher in her 25-29 age group of 1013 finishers.

Chapple moved to Australia in 2023.

Having previously represented Guernsey at various events including winning medals at the Guernsey Island Games in 2023, she has continued competing including over Ironman distance in Australia and New Zealand.
