Guernsey’s swimmers have won three golds, a silver and a bronze medal already at the Orkney Island Games.

On the first day of competition in the pool, the Sarnian women dominated.

Chloe Bown claimed two gold medals in the Women’s 200m Freestyle and the 400m Individual Medley. Bown’s time of 4:43.96 was a new Island Games record in the 400m Individual Medley.

Oriana Wheeler claimed silver in the 400m Individual Medley.

Orla Rabey also claimed silver in the Women’s 100m Butterfly.

The Women’s 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay was won by Guernsey with Brown and Rabey swimming with Molly Staples and Tatiana Tostevin.

The Guernsey’s women’s success puts the island at the top of the swimming medal table after the first day of competition in the pool.

The Faroe Islands and Jersey have more medals in total from swimming, but with three golds Guernsey is in pole position heading in to today’s events.
