Organisers of the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon are making an urgent appeal for volunteers to help marshal this year’s race.

The marathon, which is celebrating its 21st edition, will take place on Sunday 4 October.

Organisers said the additional course marshals are needed to help ensure the event runs safely and smoothly throughout the day.

They thanked the volunteers who have already signed up, but said more support from the community was needed to fill the remaining positions.

Mia Richardson, Volunteer Manager, said: “Course marshals are at the heart of the race, guiding and supporting participants as they make their way along the marathon course.

“Their positive presence doesn’t just motivate our runners but also contributes to the safety and overall experience of one of the island’s biggest community and fundraising events.”

No previous experience is required to become a course marshal, with volunteers asked to commit between three and six hours on race day.

Volunteers will receive a full briefing before taking up their position, as well as a breakfast or lunch bag and coach transport to and from their allocated location on the course.

Anyone able to volunteer on Sunday 4 October can register as a course marshal via the Jersey Marathon website or email info@jersey-marathon.com.
