Heather Watson’s hopes of reaching the US Open main draw for the first time in five years have ended in New York.
The Guernsey tennis player was beaten by fellow Brit Harriet Dart in the final round of qualifying.
Watson took the opening set 6-2, but Dart fought back to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
The defeat means Watson has now failed to reach the US Open main draw for five consecutive years, having last competed in the singles tournament in 2021.
She had reached the final qualifying round after wins over Claire Liu and Ángela Fita Boluda.
