The Warm Up is back – and there is plenty to look forward to ahead of another huge weekend of Jersey sport.

Sports Reporter Archie Corbett begins with one of the island’s most exciting sporting stories of the week, having sat down with Jersey-born coach and analyst Luke Benstead following his appointment as assistant coach of the Scotland national team.

Working under new Scotland boss Sebastian Pocognoli, Benstead has reached another remarkable milestone in a career which has taken him from Jersey to the very highest levels of the game.

Archie talks through their conversation and some of the key moments from Benstead’s journey, with the full story featuring in the JEP.

Attention then turns to a busy weekend of inter-island competition.

Farmers face Guernsey’s Norman Piette Cobo in the CI League Final, with the cricketing honours up for grabs, while Jersey’s Men’s and Ladies’ golf teams travel to Guernsey for their respective Inter-Insulars.

The Men’s side will be captained by Mark Tostevin, with Nicola Mollin leading the Ladies’ team.

There is also a historic rugby fixture on the horizon, with Jersey RFC travelling to face Guernsey Raiders in a league meeting for the first time since the 1994/95 season.

The Islanders will be looking to get their first points on the board in National League 2 East after a challenging start to life at the higher level.

The Jersey Bulls Women are also back in league action as they take on Sutton United U23s, looking to bounce back from last weekend’s FA Cup defeat, while the Bulls Girls Under-16 Academy begin their league campaign on the mainland.

Closer to home, the local football scene has already produced some midweek silverware, with Jersey Wanderers claiming Charity Cup honours.

The Wheway Memorial Trophy then gets underway on Saturday afternoon, providing another dose of local football to look forward to.

With inter-island bragging rights, historic rugby, football, cricket, golf and a remarkable Jersey-to-Scotland story all on the agenda, the Warm Up has plenty to get stuck into ahead of another big weekend.
