The Channel Islands’ oldest regatta is set to return this month – but competitors don’t have long left to secure their place on the start line.

Sailors have just under two weeks left to enter this year’s Jersey Electricity Gorey Regatta, with organisers reminding competitors that the deadline for entries is 16 June.

Established in 1857, the event is believed to be the oldest regatta in the Channel Islands and will return over the weekend of 20 and 21 June.

The programme includes races for dinghies, cruising and racing yachts, sports catamarans and dayboats, with a prize-giving dinner due to take place at the Pembroke Hotel on the Sunday evening.

A popular fixture in Jersey’s sailing calendar, the regatta attracts competitors from clubs across the island, including St Catherine’s Sailing Club, St Helier Yacht Club and the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club.

This year’s event also sees Jersey Electricity return as title sponsor.

“Their ongoing support is greatly appreciated and allows us to once again offer a full programme of sailing and social events,” said Justin Horton, Captain of the Gorey Regatta Association.

Further information and entry details are available via the regatta website.
