Pair rescued from Plémont after being cut off by tide

Sunday 11 February 2024

A couple had to be winched to safety at Plémont yesterday after being cut off by the tide.

The two people were exploring the caves on Saturday afternoon when they realised they could no longer access the steps.

They instead had to climb up to the old landing stage and wait to be rescued.

Two RNLI lifeboats and the Fire and Rescue Service’s inshore boat were sent to the scene after a member of the public raised the alarm.

A Jersey Coastguard duty officer lowered lifejackets down to the pair on a line, and they were winched to safety by firefighters.

The Coastguard has reminded islanders to check the tide times before exploring the coast.
