In the face of the cost-of-living crisis, Sure has unveiled a solution to help ease the financial burden on households in Jersey. Recognising the role of connectivity in our daily lives, Sure's latest move aims to make high-speed internet more affordable and accessible for Jersey residents.

Sure's newly introduced Essential Broadband, with a superfast speed of 100 Megabits per second (Mbps), aligns with the everyday need for reliable and accessible technology.

Mike Fawkner-Corbett, Head of Consumer at Sure, emphasised the company's commitment to creating a digitally inclusive society. He stated, "We believe that everyone deserves access to high-speed internet. Our new lower price broadband is about enabling individuals to thrive, without having the worry of high costs."

As the world has witnessed a surge in remote work and online learning, a dependable and affordable internet connection has become indispensable. Sure's new Essential Broadband empowers individuals to excel in their professionalor educational pursuits

What sets this broadband apart is its affordability. The new entry-level broadband is £30 with a free connection and landline rental. This is similar to the cost of 100Mbps broadband in the UK. This plan allows users to seamlessly stream content, work efficiently, and stay connected with loved ones, all at an impressive speed of 100Mbps for both uploads and downloads.

Claire Mulcahy, CEO of Citizens Advice Jersey, said: “In today's interconnected world, an era which is dominated by IT provisions, access to affordable and reliable broadband is not just a convenience but a fundamental necessity for Islanders. It has become a lifeline that brings together the community as a whole, empowers individuals, and significantly enhances overall wellbeing.

“Affordable and accessible broadband ensures that every Islander can participate and benefit from the digital age we live in and our society relies upon, unlocking opportunities for education, employment, healthcare, and social connectivity.

“As we strive for a more inclusive and wellbeing focused community and society, we recognise in its full potential that the affordability of reliant and accessible broadband is vital to all Islanders, irrespective of bias.”

Stephen Reilly, CEO of Community Savings, said: "In the digital age, the internet is not just a luxury but a lifeline, connecting us to work, loved ones, and the world around us. Ensuring affordable broadband in Jersey is not merely a matter of cost; it's a commitment to inclusivity. Community Savings Jersey stands as a beacon, exemplifying financial inclusion and accessibility for all, ensuring a connected and empowered community."

The Essential Broadband isn'tjust about connectivity though; as households grapple with the cost-of-living crisis, Sure is easing the way to stay connected to what matters.
