A student from Guernsey will get to fulfil her dream of going to university, thanks to a scholarship from international banking firm Butterfield.
Charlotte Dorey is one of three promising students to receive the US$30,000 scholarship for the upcoming year – and the only one from the Channel Islands.
She has been awarded the Butterfield Channel Islands Undergraduate Scholarship, which will go towards her studies in Management at ESCP Business school in Paris.
Richard Saunders, Managing Director of Butterfield in the Channel Islands and the UK, said: “We are delighted to award this Channel Islands focused scholarship to Charlotte and look forward to following her ongoing success.
“Butterfield continues to invest in education and provide opportunities for our young people with a view to empowering the next generation to achieve their career ambitions.”
Miss Dorey will expand her knowledge of business fundamentals like accounting and microeconomics and access insight into rhetoric, business law and international relations through her degree.
Aside from her studies, she has been a member of Guernsey’s Youth Commission and has taught English and Computer Science while volunteering in Kenya.
Butterfield has awarded two other scholarships – to Sioma Rudo from Bermuda, to study Human Resources Management at Saint Mary’s University, and Johann Uy from the Cayman Islands to study Computer Science with Industrial Experience at the University of Manchester.
