The Medical Specialist Group has appointed as a new Chair.
Dr Michelle Le Cheminant is the first woman and the youngest individual to hold the position since the MSG was formed in 1992, and is the first to hold the position permanently, since Dr Stephen Evans took on the role of Interim Chair three years ago.
A Guernsey native and a Consultant Anaesthetist who joined the MSG as a locum in 2019, Dr Le Cheminant previously served as its Deputy Chair.
She studied at the University of Cambridge and King’s College London, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2014.
Beyond her clinical roles, she is a Commissioner on the Guernsey Overseas Aid committee and has volunteered for several sight saving missions with Orbis International.
Last year Express featured her as part of International Women’s Day coverage.

On her new appointment as Chair, Dr Le Cheminant said she was very proud.
“Having grown up in Guernsey, the community is extremely important to me. I am enthusiastic to contribute and enhance the excellent specialist healthcare services we have established on the island.
“I am looking forward to stepping into the role of Chair and playing a significant role in influencing the healthcare strategy on the island to ensure that the Guernsey community continues to receive high-quality care.”
Dr Evans had previously chaired the MSG from 2011 to 2017, and returned to the role temporarily for three years after Dr Gary Yarwood stepped down.
“Dr Le Cheminant is going to be a fantastic Chair for the MSG, she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge across anaesthetics and intensive care medicine and has thrived as Deputy Chair,” he said.
“I am looking forward to seeing her shine in her new role.”
