A mortgage brokerage which has been operating in Guernsey since 2006 has announced its launch into the Jersey market.
A part of the Howden Group, SPF Private Clients said the expansion was intended to increase access to independent mortgage and protection advice for Jersey residents and businesses.
The company said the launch “strengthens its presence across the Channel Islands and increases access to independent mortgage and protection advice for local residents and businesses”.
The Jersey operation is being led by mortgage professional Paul Hyde, supported by senior mortgage adviser Lucy Munroe.
The team is currently based at Unity Chambers on Halkett Street in St Helier, but the firm said it plans to relocate to offices near The Royal Yacht in the coming months.
The firm highlighted a significant difference in how mortgages are arranged between the two islands, with approximately 70–75% arranged through brokers in Guernsey compared to just 25% in the bigger island.
Mr Hyde said: “Rather than being viewed as an additional cost, brokers provide access to a wider range of lenders and options, helping clients secure terms that align with their long-term plans.
“Broker advice is sometimes under-utilised locally, and there is an opportunity to better highlight the support, choice and insight available to borrowers across Jersey.
“Greater awareness of how brokers operate can help people make more informed decisions and access appropriate solutions for their circumstances.”
Mr Hyde continued saying: “I’m pleased to be establishing our presence in Jersey and working closely with residents and businesses to understand their objectives and guide them through to completion.”
The Jersey team will support clients across a range of borrowing needs, including first-time purchases, home moves, refinancing and portfolio reviews.
