Registration is now officially open for the 2026 BWCI Our Race for Life, and organisers are calling on businesses, community groups and friends across the islands to come together and be part of this powerful day of fundraising and solidarity.

Taking place on Sunday 17 May 2026, the much-loved event has started a three-year partnership with BWCI as title sponsor. Since its inception, the event has raised more than £100,000 for Cancer Research UK – Guernsey Branch, funding life-saving research and helping to bring hope to families locally and beyond.

This year, organisers are placing a special focus on community spirit, encouraging corporate teams, sports clubs, charities and groups of friends to sign up together, wear their event shirts with pride and make a day of it.

Event founder Dani Barnett said: “I founded the event to raise awareness and vital funds to help fight for a cure for cancer. With the BRCA gene in my family, this cause is incredibly personal to me. Like so many others, I know what it feels like to live with that worry and uncertainty. That’s why this event means so much – every person who signs up, every team that takes part, is helping bring us closer to better treatments and, one day, a cure.”

To make it even easier to take part, event shirts are included in the ticket price for 2026. An early bird discount of 20% is now available using the code BWCI1 for a limited time.

Why It Matters

Cancer continues to impact almost every family. In the UK alone, around 1,000 people are diagnosed with cancer every day, and 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime. The disease affects not only those diagnosed, but their families, friends, colleagues and wider community.

Funds raised through BWCI Our Race for Life support pioneering research into prevention, early detection and kinder, more effective treatments. Cancer Research UK’s work has helped double cancer survival rates in the UK over the past 50 years, but there is still much more to be done.

Erin Bisson, Senior Manager at BWCI, said: “We’re incredibly proud to support this event and the difference it makes. It’s inspiring to see the island community come together for such an important cause, and we encourage other businesses to enter teams, support their staff and be part of something truly meaningful.”

The committee would also like to extend sincere thanks to Rovers Football Club for generously allowing use of their pitch and clubhouse facilities, and to BWCI for their commitment and sponsorship. Their support ensures the event can continue to grow and maximise the funds raised for cancer research.

Whether walking, jogging or running, participants of all ages and abilities are welcome. BWCI Our Race for Life is not about finishing times – it’s about standing together, remembering loved ones, celebrating survivors and raising vital funds to help beat cancer.Businesses and groups interested in entering teams are encouraged to register early to take advantage of the 20% discount.
