The Elizabeth College Summer Orchestral Course will return for its 51st year later this month – introducing the Bailiwick’s young musicians to the likes of Brahms and Bach.
The week-long event – beginning Monday 17 August – welcomes 100 students aged 8 to 20 from across the Bailiwick to come together and play their instruments together.
The week is hosted by Elizabeth College, which will facilitate 9 ensembles’ rehearsals and culminates in a host of performances – both formal and informal – on 21 and 22 August at St James’.
There is also a composition competition to challenge island’s best maestros.
The 25 tutors bring with them a wealth of experience and enthusiasm and are all either in music education or have performed in respected UK orchestras.
There is also a junior section, MusicMakers, which gives younger students the chance to learn an instrument for the first time.
