Mourant Ozannes appoints new managing partner in Jersey

Tuesday 22 April 2014

Advocate Jonathan Speck has been appointed as the Managing Partner of Mourant Ozannes' Jersey office.

He takes over taking over from Advocate Daniel Birtwistle who has stepped down from the role after a three-year term.

Advocate Speck was called to the English Bar in 1990 and was sworn in as a Jersey Advocate in 1994. He has been a partner of Mourant Ozannes since 1996 and is joint head of the firm's International Trusts & Private Client practice in the Island. He has played a major role in virtually all of the most high profile high value and complex trust disputes in Jersey in recent years. According to Chambers Global, he is the only star-rated litigator in Jersey and is rated by Citywealth as one of the world’s Top Five contentious trust lawyers.

The Global Managing Partner of Mourant Ozannes, Jonathan Rigby, said: "We are very fortunate indeed that Jonathan has accepted the position of managing partner of the Jersey office.  He has many fine qualities that will stand him in good stead as the senior figurehead for the office and an ambassador for Mourant Ozannes in Jersey. I would like to thank Daniel for the tremendous contribution that he has made during his time as Jersey Managing Partner and I know that Jonathan will be drawing on Daniel's experience as he leads the office through the next phase in its development."

Advocate Speck said he was delighted to be taking on the role of Managing Partner in Jersey.

“Under Daniel's stewardship, our team here has continued to build on Mourant Ozannes' excellent reputation and to receive plaudits for their exceptional service.  I look forward to working with my Jersey colleagues to demonstrate just how impressive is our offering here.  And I look forward to working with my colleagues in our other offices in the BVI, Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong and London: no other offshore firm has the same ability to provide such a seamless, first-class service in all its jurisdictions,” he said.
