Law firm Ogier has announced changes to its senior management team.
Dispute resolution specialist Edward Mackereth has taken over as the law firm’s Global Managing Partner, while private client expert Steve Meiklejohn has become Global Senior Partner.
Nick Kershaw, who steps away from the managing partner role he held for eight years to become chair of Ogier’s Executive Board, said: “Edward's appointment to our senior management team represents a new generation taking the helm at Ogier. We are excited to see how Edward, with our executive team, will drive Ogier forward to ensure we are providing our clients with what they need in the evolving legal marketplace.”
Edward Mackereth joined Ogier as a Dispute Resolution partner in 2004. Having led Ogier’s Jersey Dispute Resolution team and then the firm’s global team – across five international offices – he joined Ogier’s Executive Board in 2015.
Named recently as one of the top ten contentious trusts lawyers across the UK and Crown Dependencies by Citywealth, Edward is part of Ogier’s Trust Advisory Group, which is STEP’s International Legal Team of the Year. With a split role, Edward retains his practice and will continue to specialise in regulatory, fraud and asset-tracing, and banking and commercial disputes.
Nick Kershaw said: “Edward has been instrumental in developing Ogier’s approach to client service, for example being part of the team that brings together contentious, non-contentious and corporate practitioners to service the private client world under the banner of our award-winning TAG team. He has also been instrumental in establishing our multi-jurisdictional regulatory and restructuring and insolvency teams.”
Steve Meiklejohn is a highly respected private client specialist. A long-standing partner of the firm, Steve has been with Ogier for more than 30 years and becomes global senior partner following the retirement of Sarah Fitz.
Nick Kershaw said: “As global senior, partner Steve is a figurehead for the firm, inside and out. Because of his practice, Steve will be a superb ambassador for Ogier; known and respected, as he is, in a number of industries.”
